Tooth Mousse Plus is the world’s first product to improve the effectiveness of topically-applied fluoride by combining it with a peptide-calcium phosphate nanocomplex – CPP-ACP.
CPP-ACP has been shown to successfully deliver calcium phosphate into teeth, remineralising - in effect repairing - decay-damaged tooth enamel. (Calcium-phosphate is what is lost from teeth through the decay process; if it can be absorbed by teeth at a greater rate than it’s lost, then early decay damage can be reversed.)
Given the extreme reactivity of fluoride to other chemicals, the scientific challenge was to stabilize the fluoride so that it would remain bio-available to teeth. By delivering the fluoride within the CPP-ACP complex, the fluoride ions were surrounded by the peptides in the nanocomplex and held in place in the solution so that the fluoride could be delivered where and when the tooth needed it, allowing deeper and greater absorption.
In situ studies have shown that Tooth Mousse Plus penetrates more deeply and remineralises to a greather extent than either fluoride-only preparations or CPP-ACP only preparations.
