The Australian Government has committed to e-health and facilitating the electronic management of health information. This symposium will explore what e-health will mean to the dental profession, discussing an extensive range of teledentistry procedures and applications, as well as the opportunities and risks involved. Information will be shared on the impact e-dentistry may have on the patient, the provider and organisational challenges, as well as presenting examples of eHealth services and initiatives.
The event is suitable for oral health professionals, health and public health professionals, hospital and clinical directors, educators, public policy makers, students and all others interested in e-health and telehealth issues.
The symposium will be presented by the Oral Health CRC at the Melbourne Dental School, together with the Institute for a Broadband Enabled Society (IBES), the Victorian eResearch Strategic Initiative (VeRSI) and the Australian Dental Association Victorian Branch. This is the sixth Oral Health Symposium in population oral health, addressing priority areas as established by Australia's National Oral Health Plan 2004 - 2013.
The program will feature opportunities and challenges, ethical and social aspects, access and engagement and examples of successful projects.
